The Tri-State Motor Transit Co. information technology group works with corporate
administrative departments to provide cutting-edge technology solutions.
Qualcomm
All of TSMT's tractors are satellite equipped with Qualcomm technology.
This equipment enables us to communicate with the driver in real time. It
also enables us to track the physical location of the tractor. With each message
received from a driver, a position location is also received. If a message
has not been received from a driver within the hour, the tractor is automatically
polled for its position location. This position, which is translated into
a city and state location, can also be mapped to a more specific area, and if need
be to a street level mapping. The driver can send various update information on
the load he is transporting. This information, in some instances, automatically
updates our database, freeing up the dispatchers to focus on the movement
of the loads for our customers.
EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
TSMT utilizes EDI for sharing information with our customers and vendors.
EDI allows for electronic transfer of data between 2 parties. This enables
us and our trading partners to electronically receive information and process
it in our computer systems without a person having to enter the data. This
increases data accuracy, decreases labor costs, and decreases overall processing
time needed to process invoices, payments, etc. We use software that we have
written in-house for EDI translation, which ensures maximum flexibility with
respect to the customer's desired formats and versions. TSMT is capable of
transmitting and receiving EDI files 3 ways: by modem (via a VAN), by email, and
by FTP (file transfer protocal over the internet). The versions of the EDI
documents that we are capable of producing range from version 3020 to version 4010.
These documents can be from the following standards: ASNI, TDCC, MOTOR, EDIFACT,
UK, GB, UCS, VICS, GM, AIAG, RL, AIR, TRADACOMS, EANCOM, GENCOD, Odette, and
VDA. The most common standards currently used are ANSI, TDCC, and MOTOR. The
document types TSMT currently trade are: 204, 210, 214, 810, 820, 990, and 997. |

Document Management System
TSMT utilizes a customized software package by PaperWise Document Management.
This system allows for paper documents to be digitally scanned or imported automatically,
and then electronically stored giving the authorized user secure and instant
access to any of the millions of documents for freight billing, accounts payable,
driver payroll and driver logs. This access allows users to retreive, email,
fax or print from a number of databases, eliminating paper handling, boosting productivity.
